The Birmingham Story
The Birmingham Bullettes were originally formed as the Bullets in 1948, representing Warwickshire in England and adopting Plum as the team colour. Upon moving to the Midlands in 1949, the team set up home at Bingley Hall, where they made their debut in the inaugural 1951 World Championship.
The Bullets struggled in their debut season, finishing bottom of the twelve team division, winning just four of the twenty-two games in the process. They would go on to become the only one of the twelve founder members not to progress beyond the First Round in the first five years of the competition. The Bullettes finally broke their first round duck in 1956 and instantly repeated it the following year, changing their name to Bullettes in the process. Their progress stalled the following year when they failed to make the cut for the new Elite Division. Their exclusion was a brief one, winning promotion at the first attempt in 1959
