The Virginia Story
A Gridball franchise was granted to the American State of Virginia in 1950, with the club being set up originally as Richmond, taking the name Revolution to reflect an American patriotic feel. Unusually, the club were granted four official colours of Navy Blue, Yellow, Black and Blue as they began plans to enter the senior game for the first time in 1955 at Richmond Arena. In the era of qualifiers, they failed to make Supergrid proper in their first attempt before making back to back appearances in 1956 and 57
Since then they've been a Second Tier side, knocking on the door of the Elite game in 1961 as they Reached the Second Division Semi Finals where, at the time of writing, they will travel to Memphis, knowing that victory will promote them to the Elite for 1962. Lose the game and they'll have another chance with a repechage match at either Newcastle or St Louis.
